Neurofeedback can be used as an extremely effective adjunct approach to treatment for many mental health conditions.
For some people, medications and psychotherapy help to a certain degree but there continues to be a sense that ‘something is missing’. Neurofeedback is often the game changer that creates the opportunity for more meaningful processing of psychotherapy work. In some cases it can also lead to decreased doses (or discontinuation) of certain medications. It can even be the vehicle that helps a person achieve a sense of wholeness as opposed to feeling fragmented or scattered.
Physical, Cognitive, and Emotional Difficulties:
Adults, as well as children, have used NeurOptimal® neurofeedback to address the negative effects arising from Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Alzheimer’s, Autism, Insomnia, and other difficulties. The FDA has even approved Neurofeedback as effective for stress reduction.
As of November of 2012, the American Pediatric Academy (APA) has endorsed Neurofeedback / EEG Biofeedback as a “Level 1/Best Support” treatment for children with ADHD.
